Russia’s Trade with South Korea

In the 1st quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with South Korea totaled $6,228,103,656, up 48.22% ($2,026,104,532) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to South Korea in the 1st quarter of 2019 totaled $4,287,428,742, up 57.04% ($1,557,358,562) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from South Korea in the 1st quarter of 2019 totaled $1,940,674,914, up 31.85% ($468,745,970) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with South Korea in the 1st quarter of 2019 was $2,346,753,828, a 86.53% increase ($1,088,612,592) over the 1st quarter of 2018.

South Korea was Russia’s 5th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2019 (up from 11th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 3.9562% of Russia’s total trade (up from 2.6657% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

South Korea was Russia’s 6th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2019 (up from 10th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 4.1074% of Russia’s total exports (up from 2.6500% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

South Korea was Russia’s 7th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2019 (up from 8th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 3.6587% of Russia’s total imports (up from 2.6953% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to South Korea

The major share of Russian exports to South Korea in the 1st quarter of 2019 (and in the 1st quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 86.58% of Russia’s total exports to South Korea (72.80% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 7.05% of Russia’s total exports to South Korea (10.82% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
