Russia’s Trade with Sudan

In the 1st quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Sudan was $77,091,609, down 34.51% ($40,624,390) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Sudan in the 1st quarter of 2019 were $77,020,810, down 34.07% ($39,796,309) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Sudan in the 1st quarter of 2019 were $70,799, down 92.12% ($828,081) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Sudan in the 1st quarter of 2019 was $76,950,011, a 33.62% decrease ($38,968,228) over the 1st quarter of 2018.

Sudan was Russia’s 84th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2019 (down from 78th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0490% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0747% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Sudan was Russia’s 75th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2019 (down from 69th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0738% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1134% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Sudan was Russia’s 156th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2019 (down from 130th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0001% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0016% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Sudan

The major share of Russian exports to Sudan in the 1st quarter of 2019 (and in the 1st quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 92.98% of Russia’s total exports to Sudan (94.41% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 3.01% of Russia’s total exports to Sudan (0.27% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 0.85% of Russia’s total exports to Sudan (1.38% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 0.59% of Russia’s total exports to Sudan (1.62% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

  • Printed books, newspapers, pictures and other products of the printing industry; manuscripts, typescripts and plans (HS code 49) - an increase of $1,883,485;
  • Products of the milling industry; malt; starches; inulin; wheat gluten (HS code 11) - an increase of $1,242,066;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $231,122.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Sudan in the 1st quarter of 2019 over the 1st quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $41,016,640;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $953,589;
  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - a decrease of $716,604;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - a decrease of $713,424;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $412,929;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $283,354.
