Russia’s Trade with Switzerland

In the 1st quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Switzerland totaled $1,694,029,591, up 34.55% ($434,987,395) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Switzerland in the 1st quarter of 2019 totaled $1,088,827,338, up 63.31% ($422,104,777) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Switzerland in the 1st quarter of 2019 totaled $605,202,253, up 2.17% ($12,882,618) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Switzerland in the 1st quarter of 2019 was $483,625,085, a 550.01% increase ($409,222,159) over the 1st quarter of 2018.

Switzerland was Russia’s 22nd largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2019 (up from 29th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 1.0761% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.7987% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Switzerland was Russia’s 23rd largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2019 (up from 35th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 1.0431% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.6472% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Switzerland was Russia’s 20th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2019 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 1.1410% of Russia’s total imports (up from 1.0846% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Switzerland

The major share of Russian exports to Switzerland in the 1st quarter of 2019 (and in the 1st quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 60.56% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (53.81% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 25.52% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (28.91% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 10.23% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (11.41% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.26% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (1.42% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
