Russia’s Trade with Thailand

In the 1st quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Thailand totaled $635,853,747, up 13.23% ($74,278,091) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Thailand in the 1st quarter of 2019 totaled $240,292,738, up 49.30% ($79,351,775) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Thailand in the 1st quarter of 2019 were $395,561,009, down 1.27% ($5,073,684) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade deficit with Thailand in the 1st quarter of 2019 was $155,268,271, a 35.22% decrease ($84,425,459) over the 1st quarter of 2018.

Thailand was Russia’s 42nd largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2019 (up from 44th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.4039% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.3563% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Thailand was Russia’s 54th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2019 (up from 62nd in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.2302% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1562% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Thailand was Russia’s 29th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2019 (up from 30th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.7457% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.7336% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Thailand

The major share of Russian exports to Thailand in the 1st quarter of 2019 (and in the 1st quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 35.20% of Russia’s total exports to Thailand (39.00% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 14.24% of Russia’s total exports to Thailand (24.80% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 10.62% of Russia’s total exports to Thailand (16.61% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 3.62% of Russia’s total exports to Thailand (2.98% in the 1st quarter of 2018);

  • Products of animal origin, not elsewhere specified or included (HS code 05) - a decrease of $1,626,052;

  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $759,760.
