Russia’s Trade with the Czech Republic

In the 1st quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with the Czech Republic totaled $1,971,875,955, up 6.87% ($126,725,140) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to the Czech Republic in the 1st quarter of 2019 totaled $1,191,091,527, up 18.80% ($188,479,303) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from the Czech Republic in the 1st quarter of 2019 were $780,784,428, down 7.33% ($61,754,163) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with the Czech Republic in the 1st quarter of 2019 was $410,307,099, a 156.32% increase ($250,233,466) over the 1st quarter of 2018.

The Czech Republic was Russia’s 19th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2019 (down from 18th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 1.2526% of Russia’s total trade (up from 1.1705% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

The Czech Republic was Russia’s 21st largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2019 (up from 24th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 1.1411% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.9732% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

The Czech Republic was Russia’s 16th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2019 (down from 14th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 1.4720% of Russia’s total imports (down from 1.5428% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to the Czech Republic

The major share of Russian exports to the Czech Republic in the 1st quarter of 2019 (and in the 1st quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 72.83% of Russia’s total exports to the Czech Republic (69.39% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 10.77% of Russia’s total exports to the Czech Republic (9.47% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 5.39% of Russia’s total exports to the Czech Republic (6.91% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 5.09% of Russia’s total exports to the Czech Republic (2.07% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.14% of Russia’s total exports to the Czech Republic (1.30% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $33,922,851.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to the Czech Republic in the 1st quarter of 2019 over the 1st quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Natural or cultured pearls, precious or semi-precious stones,precious metals, metals clad with precious metal and articles thereof; imitation jewelry; coin (HS code 71) - a decrease of $7,522,468;
