Russia’s Trade with Canada

In the 2nd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Canada totaled $450,082,503, up 39.54% ($127,524,617) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Canada in the 2nd quarter of 2019 totaled $235,922,231, up 94.55% ($114,655,363) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Canada in the 2nd quarter of 2019 totaled $214,160,272, up 6.39% ($12,869,254) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade balance with Canada went from a deficit of $80,024,150 in the 2nd quarter of 2018, to a surplus of $21,761,959 in the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Canada was Russia’s 51st largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (up from 61st in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.2811% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1887% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Canada was Russia’s 55th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (up from 73rd in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.2341% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1100% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Canada was Russia’s 44th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (up from 45th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.3610% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.3316% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Canada

The major share of Russian exports to Canada in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 69.02% of Russia’s total exports to Canada (33.47% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 19.05% of Russia’s total exports to Canada (39.91% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
