Russia’s Trade with Colombia

In the 2nd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Colombia totaled $93,993,284, up 19.74% ($15,497,988) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Colombia in the 2nd quarter of 2019 totaled $55,472,972, up 29.71% ($12,705,088) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Colombia in the 2nd quarter of 2019 totaled $38,520,312, up 7.82% ($2,792,900) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Colombia in the 2nd quarter of 2019 was $16,952,660, a 140.79% increase ($9,912,188) over the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Colombia was Russia’s 85th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (up from 88th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0587% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0459% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Colombia was Russia’s 84th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (up from 93rd in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0551% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0388% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Colombia was Russia’s 78th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0649% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0589% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Colombia

The major share of Russian exports to Colombia in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 60.48% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (7.86% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 24.21% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (41.14% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);

  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $1,265,689;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $393,766;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $307,044.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Colombia in the 2nd quarter of 2019 over the 2nd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $898,156;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $718,336;
  • Articles of stone, plaster, cement, asbestos, mica or similar materials (HS code 68) - a decrease of $684,249;
