Russia’s Trade with Cyprus

In the 2nd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Cyprus totaled $137,666,078, up 55.30% ($49,019,749) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 2nd quarter of 2019 totaled $128,325,996, up 48.24% ($41,761,838) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Cyprus in the 2nd quarter of 2019 totaled $9,340,082, up 348.57% ($7,257,911) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Cyprus in the 2nd quarter of 2019 was $118,985,914, a 40.84% increase ($34,503,927) over the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Cyprus was Russia’s 76th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (up from 85th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0860% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0519% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Cyprus was Russia’s 67th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (up from 75th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.1274% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0785% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Cyprus was Russia’s 97th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (up from 122nd in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0157% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0034% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Cyprus

The major share of Russian exports to Cyprus in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 85.11% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (30.52% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 6.47% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (8.81% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.66% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (1.33% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.92% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (4.19% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 1.17% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (14.25% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 2nd quarter of 2019 over the 2nd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $82,486,867;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $3,555,478;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $653,712;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $423,134.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 2nd quarter of 2019 over the 2nd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - a decrease of $31,206,191;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $7,802,571;
  • Residues and waste from the food industries; prepared animal feed (HS code 23) - a decrease of $3,063,617;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $1,141,507.

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 2.38% of Russia’s total imports from Cyprus (8.27% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
