Russia’s Trade with Guatemala

In the 2nd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Guatemala was $20,876,079, down 33.55% ($10,539,190) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Guatemala in the 2nd quarter of 2019 were $14,422,629, down 42.38% ($10,606,582) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Guatemala in the 2nd quarter of 2019 totaled $6,453,450, up 1.06% ($67,392) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Guatemala in the 2nd quarter of 2019 was $7,969,179, a 57.25% decrease ($10,673,974) over the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Guatemala was Russia’s 119th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (down from 113th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0130% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0184% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Guatemala was Russia’s 109th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (down from 102nd in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0143% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0227% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Guatemala was Russia’s 108th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (down from 101st in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0109% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0105% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Guatemala

The major share of Russian exports to Guatemala in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 48.75% of Russia’s total exports to Guatemala (40.18% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 40.36% of Russia’s total exports to Guatemala (53.45% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 6.55% of Russia’s total exports to Guatemala (2.14% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 3.28% of Russia’s total exports to Guatemala (3.55% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Guatemala in the 2nd quarter of 2019 over the 2nd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $408,607;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $167,300;
  • Essential oils and resinoids; perfumery, cosmetic or toilet preparations (HS code 33) - an increase of $71,831;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $43,684.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Guatemala in the 2nd quarter of 2019 over the 2nd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $7,102,562;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $3,175,428;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $415,088;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $405,723;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $98,148;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $86,820;
  • Tanning or dyeing extracts; dyes, pigments, paints, varnishes, putty and mastics (HS code 32) - a decrease of $56,200.

Russia’s Imports from Guatemala

The major share of Russian imports from Guatemala in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 98.40% of Russia’s total imports from Guatemala (98.42% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 1.39% of Russia’s total imports from Guatemala (1.48% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Guatemala in the 2nd quarter of 2019 over the 2nd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Guatemala in the 2nd quarter of 2019 over the 2nd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons (HS code 08) - a decrease of $2,717,620.
