Russia’s Trade with Italy

In the 2nd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Italy was $6,041,515,883, down 9.27% ($617,603,446) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Italy in the 2nd quarter of 2019 were $3,438,795,501, down 16.06% ($657,828,015) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Italy in the 2nd quarter of 2019 totaled $2,602,720,382, up 1.57% ($40,224,569) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Italy in the 2nd quarter of 2019 was $836,075,119, a 45.50% decrease ($698,052,584) over the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Italy was Russia’s 7th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (down from 6th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 3.7739% of Russia’s total trade (down from 3.8962% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Italy was Russia’s 8th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (down from 7th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 3.4127% of Russia’s total exports (down from 3.7173% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Italy was Russia’s 5th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (up from 6th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 4.3873% of Russia’s total imports (up from 4.2210% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Italy

The major share of Russian exports to Italy in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 83.78% of Russia’s total exports to Italy (82.55% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 8.62% of Russia’s total exports to Italy (10.18% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 2.54% of Russia’s total exports to Italy (2.44% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.37% of Russia’s total exports to Italy (1.46% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
