Russia’s Trade with Qatar

In the 2nd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Qatar was $17,483,895, down 24.33% ($5,621,586) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Qatar in the 2nd quarter of 2019 were $9,069,425, down 39.86% ($6,011,863) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Qatar in the 2nd quarter of 2019 totaled $8,414,470, up 4.86% ($390,277) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Qatar in the 2nd quarter of 2019 was $654,955, a 90.72% decrease ($6,402,140) over the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Qatar was Russia’s 124th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (down from 118th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0109% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0135% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Qatar was Russia’s 121st largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (down from 112th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0090% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0137% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Qatar was Russia’s 98th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (up from 100th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0142% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0132% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Qatar

The major share of Russian exports to Qatar in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 64.65% of Russia’s total exports to Qatar (92.77% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 12.59% of Russia’s total exports to Qatar (0.84% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 6.49% of Russia’s total exports to Qatar (2.47% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 4.25% of Russia’s total exports to Qatar (0.34% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 3.95% of Russia’s total exports to Qatar (1.65% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);

  • Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - an increase of $277,442;
  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - an increase of $252,865;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $168,524;
  • Meat and edible meat offal (HS code 02) - an increase of $164,909;
  • Tanning or dyeing extracts; dyes, pigments, paints, varnishes, putty and mastics (HS code 32) - an increase of $150,968;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $150,882;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $47,852;

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Qatar in the 2nd quarter of 2019 over the 2nd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $8,228,317;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - a decrease of $140,877;
  • Dairy produce; birds eggs; natural honey; edible products of animal origin, not elsewhere specified or included (HS code 04) - a decrease of $113,765;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $104,666;
  • Articles of stone, plaster, cement, asbestos, mica or similar materials (HS code 68) - a decrease of $88,642;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $88,006;
  • Natural or cultured pearls, precious or semi-precious stones,precious metals, metals clad with precious metal and articles thereof; imitation jewelry; coin (HS code 71) - a decrease of $57,494;
  • Sugars and sugar confectionery (HS code 17) - a decrease of $42,973;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $41,993;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $41,235.
