Russia’s Trade with Saudi Arabia

In the 2nd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Saudi Arabia was $217,249,685, down 24.44% ($70,286,822) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Saudi Arabia in the 2nd quarter of 2019 were $155,243,732, down 25.32% ($52,625,654) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Saudi Arabia in the 2nd quarter of 2019 were $62,005,953, down 22.17% ($17,661,168) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Saudi Arabia in the 2nd quarter of 2019 was $93,237,779, a 27.27% decrease ($34,964,486) over the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Saudi Arabia was Russia’s 68th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (up from 69th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.1357% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1682% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Saudi Arabia was Russia’s 62nd largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (down from 59th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.1541% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1886% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Saudi Arabia was Russia’s 69th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (down from 63rd in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.1045% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.1312% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Saudi Arabia

The major share of Russian exports to Saudi Arabia in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 31.55% of Russia’s total exports to Saudi Arabia (71.89% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 28.86% of Russia’s total exports to Saudi Arabia (1.07% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 16.39% of Russia’s total exports to Saudi Arabia (5.49% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 9.04% of Russia’s total exports to Saudi Arabia (3.38% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 7.72% of Russia’s total exports to Saudi Arabia (3.95% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);

  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $7,202,578;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $1,822,712;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $1,614,250;
