Russia’s Trade with South Korea

In the 2nd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with South Korea totaled $6,507,901,443, up 2.18% ($138,676,613) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to South Korea in the 2nd quarter of 2019 were $4,432,480,148, down 3.61% ($165,781,567) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from South Korea in the 2nd quarter of 2019 totaled $2,075,421,295, up 17.19% ($304,458,180) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with South Korea in the 2nd quarter of 2019 was $2,357,058,853, a 16.63% decrease ($470,239,747) over the 2nd quarter of 2018.

South Korea was Russia’s 6th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (up from 7th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 4.0652% of Russia’s total trade (up from 3.7266% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

South Korea was Russia’s 6th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 4.3989% of Russia’s total exports (up from 4.1725% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

South Korea was Russia’s 7th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (up from 8th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 3.4984% of Russia’s total imports (up from 2.9172% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to South Korea

The major share of Russian exports to South Korea in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 81.54% of Russia’s total exports to South Korea (81.71% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 9.61% of Russia’s total exports to South Korea (10.44% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 4.13% of Russia’s total exports to South Korea (4.52% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.79% of Russia’s total exports to South Korea (0.26% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
