Russia’s Trade with Switzerland

In the 2nd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Switzerland was $1,678,149,111, down 11.63% ($220,919,139) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Switzerland in the 2nd quarter of 2019 were $1,096,410,373, down 8.54% ($102,361,380) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Switzerland in the 2nd quarter of 2019 were $581,738,738, down 16.93% ($118,557,759) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Switzerland in the 2nd quarter of 2019 was $514,671,635, a 3.25% increase ($16,196,379) over the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Switzerland was Russia’s 19th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 1.0483% of Russia’s total trade (down from 1.1111% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Switzerland was Russia’s 22nd largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 1.0881% of Russia’s total exports (up from 1.0878% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Switzerland was Russia’s 23rd largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (down from 20th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.9806% of Russia’s total imports (down from 1.1535% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Switzerland

The major share of Russian exports to Switzerland in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 46.84% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (25.43% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 42.82% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (59.65% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 5.52% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (11.00% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.64% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (2.03% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Switzerland in the 2nd quarter of 2019 over the 2nd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:
