Russia’s Trade with Tunisia

In the 2nd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Tunisia was $179,739,815, down 20.10% ($45,212,514) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Tunisia in the 2nd quarter of 2019 were $148,929,185, down 22.70% ($43,737,477) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Tunisia in the 2nd quarter of 2019 were $30,810,630, down 4.57% ($1,475,037) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Tunisia in the 2nd quarter of 2019 was $118,118,555, a 26.35% decrease ($42,262,440) over the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Tunisia was Russia’s 72nd largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (up from 75th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.1123% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1316% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Tunisia was Russia’s 65th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (down from 62nd in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.1478% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1748% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Tunisia was Russia’s 82nd largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (down from 81st in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0519% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0532% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Tunisia

The major share of Russian exports to Tunisia in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 81.57% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (61.92% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 13.28% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (12.01% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 2.90% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (14.95% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.97% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (2.09% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 0.09% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (8.64% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Tunisia in the 2nd quarter of 2019 over the 2nd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $1,110,379;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $1,062,050;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $567,574.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Tunisia in the 2nd quarter of 2019 over the 2nd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $24,513,187;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $15,217,251;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $3,503,891;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - a decrease of $1,424,176;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $1,266,500;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $492,087.

Russia’s Imports from Tunisia

The major share of Russian imports from Tunisia in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 53.74% of Russia’s total imports from Tunisia (51.11% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 20.00% of Russia’s total imports from Tunisia (19.67% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 16.98% of Russia’s total imports from Tunisia (19.11% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
