Russia’s Trade with Vietnam

In the 2nd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Vietnam was $1,195,475,756, down 7.87% ($102,129,414) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Vietnam in the 2nd quarter of 2019 were $327,158,182, down 28.96% ($133,343,467) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Vietnam in the 2nd quarter of 2019 totaled $868,317,574, up 3.73% ($31,214,053) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade deficit with Vietnam in the 2nd quarter of 2019 was $541,159,392, a 43.70% increase ($164,557,520) over the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Vietnam was Russia’s 30th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (down from 29th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.7468% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.7592% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Vietnam was Russia’s 46th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (down from 42nd in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.3247% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.4179% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Vietnam was Russia’s 18th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 1.4637% of Russia’s total imports (up from 1.3789% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Vietnam

The major share of Russian exports to Vietnam in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 54.47% of Russia’s total exports to Vietnam (13.75% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 21.82% of Russia’s total exports to Vietnam (18.52% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 12.30% of Russia’s total exports to Vietnam (11.25% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 5.50% of Russia’s total exports to Vietnam (34.96% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
