Russia’s Trade with Chile

In 2011, Russia’s trade with Chile totaled $454,678,783, up 27.68% ($98,561,848) from 2010.

Russia’s exports to Chile in 2011 totaled $32,511,793, up 24.00% ($6,292,755) from 2010.

Russia’s imports from Chile in 2011 totaled $422,166,990, up 27.97% ($92,269,093) from 2010.

Russia’s trade deficit with Chile in 2011 was $389,655,197, a 28.31% increase ($85,976,338) over 2010.

Chile was Russia’s 83rd largest trading partner in 2011 (down from 81st in 2010), accounting for 0.0553% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0569% in 2010).

Chile was Russia’s 122nd largest export market in 2011 (down from 116th in 2010), accounting for 0.0063% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0066% in 2010).

Chile was Russia’s 56th largest supplier in 2011 (up from 58th in 2010), accounting for 0.1381% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.1441% in 2010).

Russia’s Exports to Chile

The major share of Russian exports to Chile in 2011 (and in 2010) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 45.55% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (22.30% in 2010);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 33.74% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (1.44% in 2010);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 9.36% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (62.95% in 2010);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 8.56% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (3.17% in 2010);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 2.40% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (8.52% in 2010);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 0.15% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (1.59% in 2010).

  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $1,909,185;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $239,998;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $152,900;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $137,809.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Chile in 2011 over 2010 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $12,396,249;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - a decrease of $1,494,351;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $574,103;
  • Tools, implements, cutlery, spoons and forks, of base metal; parts thereof of base metal (HS code 82) - a decrease of $378,953;
  • Wadding, felt and nonwovens; special yarns, twine, cordage, ropes and cables and articles thereof (HS code 56) - a decrease of $345,737;
