Russia’s Trade with Indonesia

In 2011, Russia’s trade with Indonesia totaled $2,166,266,619, up 13.33% ($254,722,774) from 2010.

Russia’s exports to Indonesia in 2011 were $635,884,574, down 26.57% ($230,076,261) from 2010.

Russia’s imports from Indonesia in 2011 totaled $1,530,382,045, up 46.37% ($484,799,035) from 2010.

Russia’s trade deficit with Indonesia in 2011 was $894,497,471, a 397.99% increase ($714,875,296) over 2010.

Indonesia was Russia’s 45th largest trading partner in 2011 (down from 44th in 2010), accounting for 0.2634% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.3054% in 2010).

Indonesia was Russia’s 66th largest export market in 2011 (down from 52nd in 2010), accounting for 0.1231% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.2181% in 2010).

Indonesia was Russia’s 34th largest supplier in 2011 (up from 35th in 2010), accounting for 0.5005% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.4568% in 2010).

Russia’s Exports to Indonesia

The major share of Russian exports to Indonesia in 2011 (and in 2010) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 48.15% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (19.69% in 2010);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 29.90% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (16.57% in 2010);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 6.23% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (5.54% in 2010);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 5.90% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (24.07% in 2010);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 0.89% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (6.10% in 2010);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 0.06% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (1.59% in 2010).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Indonesia in 2011 over 2010 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $136,068,613;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $40,416,237;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $6,316,571;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $6,218,004;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $2,280,912.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Indonesia in 2011 over 2010 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $171,018,456;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $43,640,536;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $13,400,054;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $11,160,594;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $6,020,853;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $3,757,494.

Russia’s Imports from Indonesia

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 17.18% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (21.05% in 2010);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 15.11% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (14.07% in 2010);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 13.99% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (9.46% in 2010);
