Russia’s Trade with Tanzania

In 2011, Russia’s trade with Tanzania totaled $152,457,448, up 69.09% ($62,296,046) from 2010.

Russia’s exports to Tanzania in 2011 totaled $102,548,216, up 109.38% ($53,571,895) from 2010.

Russia’s imports from Tanzania in 2011 totaled $49,909,232, up 21.18% ($8,724,151) from 2010.

Russia’s trade surplus with Tanzania in 2011 was $52,638,984, a 575.62% increase ($44,847,744) over 2010.

Tanzania was Russia’s 107th largest trading partner in 2011 (up from 112th in 2010), accounting for 0.0185% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0144% in 2010).

Tanzania was Russia’s 95th largest export market in 2011 (up from 103rd in 2010), accounting for 0.0198% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0123% in 2010).

Tanzania was Russia’s 94th largest supplier in 2011 (down from 93rd in 2010), accounting for 0.0163% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0180% in 2010).

Russia’s Exports to Tanzania

The major share of Russian exports to Tanzania in 2011 (and in 2010) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 47.34% of Russia’s total exports to Tanzania (72.01% in 2010);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 26.67% of Russia’s total exports to Tanzania (21.85% in 2010);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 20.19% of Russia’s total exports to Tanzania (0.34% in 2010);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 3.16% of Russia’s total exports to Tanzania (0.04% in 2010);

  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $574,649;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $389,142.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Tanzania in 2011 over 2010 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $418,666.
