Russia’s Trade with Zimbabwe

In 2011, Russia’s trade with Zimbabwe totaled $31,135,751, up 130.86% ($17,648,931) from 2010.

Russia’s exports to Zimbabwe in 2011 totaled $6,907,109, up 636.73% ($5,969,578) from 2010.

Russia’s imports from Zimbabwe in 2011 totaled $24,228,642, up 93.07% ($11,679,353) from 2010.

Russia’s trade deficit with Zimbabwe in 2011 was $17,321,533, a 49.17% increase ($5,709,775) over 2010.

Zimbabwe was Russia’s 138th largest trading partner in 2011 (up from 142nd in 2010), accounting for 0.0038% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0022% in 2010).

Zimbabwe was Russia’s 135th largest export market in 2011 (up from 161st in 2010), accounting for 0.0013% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0002% in 2010).

Zimbabwe was Russia’s 109th largest supplier in 2011 (up from 111th in 2010), accounting for 0.0079% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0055% in 2010).

Russia’s Exports to Zimbabwe

The major share of Russian exports to Zimbabwe in 2011 (and in 2010) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 68.19% of Russia’s total exports to Zimbabwe (1.48% in 2010);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 22.81% of Russia’s total exports to Zimbabwe (20.85% in 2010);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 7.19% of Russia’s total exports to Zimbabwe (77.28% in 2010);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.27% of Russia’s total exports to Zimbabwe (0.25% in 2010).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Zimbabwe in 2011 over 2010 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $1,337,287;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $110,142;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $85,309;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - an increase of $42,688;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $36,058.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Zimbabwe in 2011 over 2010 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $326,743.

Russia’s Imports from Zimbabwe

The major share of Russian imports from Zimbabwe in 2011 (and in 2010) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 99.23% of Russia’s total imports from Zimbabwe (99.78% in 2010).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Zimbabwe in 2011 over 2010 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $11,187,824;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - an increase of $420,500;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $113,261.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Zimbabwe in 2011 over 2010 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Live trees and other plants; bulbs, roots and the like; cut flowers and ornamental foliage (HS code 06) - a decrease of $143,707.
