In 2012, Russia’s trade with Nigeria was $223,151,616, down 24.74% ($73,336,866) from 2011.

Russia’s exports to Nigeria in 2012 were $197,857,428, down 27.21% ($73,963,906) from 2011.

Russia’s imports from Nigeria in 2012 totaled $25,294,188, up 2.54% ($627,040) from 2011.

Russia’s trade surplus with Nigeria in 2012 was $172,563,240, a 30.18% decrease ($74,590,946) over 2011.

Nigeria was Russia’s 92nd largest trading partner in 2012 (up from 93rd in 2011), accounting for 0.0265% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0360% in 2011).

Nigeria was Russia’s 86th largest export market in 2012 (down from 78th in 2011), accounting for 0.0377% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0526% in 2011).

Nigeria was Russia’s 104th largest supplier in 2012 (up from 107th in 2011), accounting for 0.0080% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0081% in 2011).

Russia’s Exports to Nigeria

The major share of Russian exports to Nigeria in 2012 (and in 2011) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 49.97% of Russia’s total exports to Nigeria (13.32% in 2011);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 22.04% of Russia’s total exports to Nigeria (35.10% in 2011);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 14.24% of Russia’s total exports to Nigeria (2.85% in 2011);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 8.57% of Russia’s total exports to Nigeria (45.03% in 2011);

  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $3,686,841.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Nigeria in 2012 over 2011 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $105,374,126;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $30,762,323;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $21,041,293;

Russia’s Imports from Nigeria
