Russia’s Trade with Taiwan

In the 2nd quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Taiwan was $925,915,974, down 3.12% ($29,770,451) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Taiwan in the 2nd quarter of 2016 were $593,917,857, down 11.42% ($76,543,945) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Taiwan in the 2nd quarter of 2016 totaled $331,998,117, up 16.40% ($46,773,494) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade surplus with Taiwan in the 2nd quarter of 2016 was $261,919,740, a 32.01% decrease ($123,317,439) over the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Taiwan was Russia’s 25th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (up from 26th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.8507% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.7010% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Taiwan was Russia’s 23rd largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (up from 25th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.8938% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.7324% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Taiwan was Russia’s 27th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (up from 32nd in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.7832% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.6368% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Taiwan

The major share of Russian exports to Taiwan in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 59.92% of Russia’s total exports to Taiwan (60.01% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 33.46% of Russia’s total exports to Taiwan (33.68% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.59% of Russia’s total exports to Taiwan (3.39% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 1.28% of Russia’s total exports to Taiwan (0.75% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.17% of Russia’s total exports to Taiwan (1.03% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Taiwan in the 2nd quarter of 2016 over the 2nd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $17,349,990;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $2,712,252;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $2,500,666;
  • Natural or cultured pearls, precious or semi-precious stones,precious metals, metals clad with precious metal and articles thereof; imitation jewelry; coin (HS code 71) - an increase of $2,008,761.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Taiwan in the 2nd quarter of 2016 over the 2nd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $46,861,503;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $46,468,856;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $6,886,366.

Russia’s Imports from Taiwan

The major share of Russian imports from Taiwan in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 65.42% of Russia’s total imports from Taiwan (65.55% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 15.84% of Russia’s total imports from Taiwan (16.26% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 10.62% of Russia’s total imports from Taiwan (10.16% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 2.79% of Russia’s total imports from Taiwan (2.29% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $4,146,269;
  • Man-made filaments (HS code 54) - an increase of $3,579,561;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $3,075,519;
  • Fish and crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates (HS code 03) - an increase of $2,151,928;
