Russia’s Trade with Turkmenistan

In the 2nd quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Turkmenistan totaled $431,516,440, up 101.33% ($217,184,334) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Turkmenistan in the 2nd quarter of 2016 were $182,288,310, down 5.91% ($11,457,010) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Turkmenistan in the 2nd quarter of 2016 totaled $249,228,130, up 1,110.62% ($228,641,344) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade with Turkmenistan went from a surplus of $173,158,534 in the 2nd quarter of 2015, to a deficit of $66,939,820 in the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Turkmenistan was Russia’s 42nd largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (up from 65th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.3965% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1572% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Turkmenistan was Russia’s 50th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (up from 55th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.2743% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.2116% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Turkmenistan was Russia’s 33rd largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (up from 86th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.5879% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0460% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Turkmenistan

The major share of Russian exports to Turkmenistan in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 51.69% of Russia’s total exports to Turkmenistan (25.73% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 16.84% of Russia’s total exports to Turkmenistan (17.63% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Turkmenistan in the 2nd quarter of 2016 over the 2nd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:
