Russia’s Trade with Portugal

In the 3rd quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Portugal totaled $402,020,427, up 85.74% ($185,577,316) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Portugal in the 3rd quarter of 2016 totaled $287,927,976, up 161.68% ($177,895,726) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Portugal in the 3rd quarter of 2016 totaled $114,092,451, up 7.22% ($7,681,590) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade surplus with Portugal in the 3rd quarter of 2016 was $173,835,525, a 4,700.24% increase ($170,214,136) over the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Portugal was Russia’s 49th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (up from 68th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.3297% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1705% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Portugal was Russia’s 41st largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (up from 66th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.4002% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1384% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Portugal was Russia’s 50th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (up from 52nd in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.2283% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.2245% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Portugal

The major share of Russian exports to Portugal in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 95.29% of Russia’s total exports to Portugal (72.40% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.67% of Russia’s total exports to Portugal (2.57% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.13% of Russia’s total exports to Portugal (0.30% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 0.82% of Russia’s total exports to Portugal (5.66% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Portugal in the 3rd quarter of 2016 over the 3rd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $2,654,690;
