Russia’s Trade with the Philippines

In the 3rd quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with the Philippines was $121,609,769, down 18.47% ($27,547,438) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to the Philippines in the 3rd quarter of 2016 were $38,804,625, down 46.31% ($33,469,474) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from the Philippines in the 3rd quarter of 2016 totaled $82,805,144, up 7.70% ($5,922,036) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade deficit with the Philippines in the 3rd quarter of 2016 was $44,000,519, a 854.66% increase ($39,391,510) over the 3rd quarter of 2015.

The Philippines was Russia’s 76th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (down from 75th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0997% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1175% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

The Philippines was Russia’s 89th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (down from 76th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0539% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0909% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

The Philippines was Russia’s 56th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.1657% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.1622% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to the Philippines

The major share of Russian exports to the Philippines in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 57.95% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (89.19% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 15.21% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (9.76% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 14.03% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (0.09% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 7.45% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (0.12% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 3.80% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (0.19% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.49% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (0.48% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $2,591,375;

  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $136,245;
  • Products of the milling industry; malt; starches; inulin; wheat gluten (HS code 11) - an increase of $128,732.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to the Philippines in the 3rd quarter of 2016 over the 3rd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $42,011,960;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $1,063,182.

Russia’s Imports from the Philippines

The major share of Russian imports from the Philippines in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 8.90% of Russia’s total imports from the Philippines (11.33% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 3.67% of Russia’s total imports from the Philippines (3.61% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
