Russia’s Trade with Argentina
In the 4th quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Argentina was $194,563,747, down 14.79% ($33,760,160) from the 4th quarter of 2015.
Russia’s exports to Argentina in the 4th quarter of 2016 were $37,974,242, down 19.76% ($9,350,532) from the 4th quarter of 2015.
Russia’s imports from Argentina in the 4th quarter of 2016 were $156,589,505, down 13.49% ($24,409,628) from the 4th quarter of 2015.
Russia’s trade deficit with Argentina in the 4th quarter of 2016 was $118,615,263, a 11.27% decrease ($15,059,096) over the 4th quarter of 2015.
Argentina was Russia’s 67th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2016 (down from 64th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.1428% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1746% in the 4th quarter of 2015).
Argentina was Russia’s 89th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2016 (down from 82nd in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0453% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0574% in the 4th quarter of 2015).
Argentina was Russia’s 47th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2016 (down from 39th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.2987% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.3745% in the 4th quarter of 2015).
Russia’s Exports to Argentina
The major share of Russian exports to Argentina in the 4th quarter of 2016 (and in the 4th quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 85.35% of Russia’s total exports to Argentina (17.91% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
- Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 4.57% of Russia’s total exports to Argentina (3.99% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
- Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 4.29% of Russia’s total exports to Argentina (28.98% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
- Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 3.06% of Russia’s total exports to Argentina (46.67% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
- Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.26% of Russia’s total exports to Argentina (2.16% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

- Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $666,388;
- Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $300,285;
- Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $201,728;
- Products of the milling industry; malt; starches; inulin; wheat gluten (HS code 11) - an increase of $168,047;
- Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $135,866.
The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Argentina in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

The major share of Russian imports from Argentina in the 4th quarter of 2016 (and in the 4th quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:
- Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 91.84% of Russia’s total imports from Argentina (91.33% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 6.33% of Russia’s total imports from Argentina (5.01% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
- Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.08% of Russia’s total imports from Argentina (3.55% in the 4th quarter of 2015).
