Russia’s Trade with Cuba
In the 4th quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Cuba totaled $91,723,349, up 345.08% ($71,115,117) from the 4th quarter of 2015.
Russia’s exports to Cuba in the 4th quarter of 2016 totaled $88,768,462, up 374.29% ($70,052,386) from the 4th quarter of 2015.
Russia’s imports from Cuba in the 4th quarter of 2016 totaled $2,954,887, up 56.17% ($1,062,731) from the 4th quarter of 2015.
Russia’s trade surplus with Cuba in the 4th quarter of 2016 was $85,813,575, a 410.07% increase ($68,989,655) over the 4th quarter of 2015.
Cuba was Russia’s 88th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2016 (up from 120th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0673% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0158% in the 4th quarter of 2015).
Cuba was Russia’s 75th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2016 (up from 105th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.1059% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0227% in the 4th quarter of 2015).
Cuba was Russia’s 110th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2016 (up from 116th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0056% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0039% in the 4th quarter of 2015).
Russia’s Exports to Cuba
The major share of Russian exports to Cuba in the 4th quarter of 2016 (and in the 4th quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:
- Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 85.94% of Russia’s total exports to Cuba (73.56% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
- Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 6.42% of Russia’s total exports to Cuba (0.29% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.81% of Russia’s total exports to Cuba (9.35% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
- Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 1.06% of Russia’s total exports to Cuba (7.32% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
- Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 0.89% of Russia’s total exports to Cuba (2.48% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
- Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 0.63% of Russia’s total exports to Cuba (5.24% in the 4th quarter of 2015).
The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Cuba in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $46,255,506;
- Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $13,039,478;
- Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - an increase of $5,638,340;
- Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $2,835,910;
- Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $1,483,562;
- Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $674,753;
- Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $340,272.
The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Cuba in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $951,783;
- Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $431,963;
- Railway or tramway locomotives, rolling-stock and parts thereof; railway or tramway track fixtures and fittings and parts thereof; mechanical (including electro-mechanical) traffic signalling equipment of all kinds (HS code 86) - a decrease of $285,160;
- Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $280,309.
