Russia’s Trade with Cyprus

In the 4th quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Cyprus totaled $134,654,185, up 41.88% ($39,749,380) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 4th quarter of 2016 totaled $116,565,665, up 88.99% ($54,887,882) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Cyprus in the 4th quarter of 2016 were $18,088,520, down 45.56% ($15,138,502) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade surplus with Cyprus in the 4th quarter of 2016 was $98,477,145, a 246.13% increase ($70,026,384) over the 4th quarter of 2015.

Cyprus was Russia’s 79th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2016 (up from 81st in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0988% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0726% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Cyprus was Russia’s 69th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2016 (up from 77th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.1390% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0748% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Cyprus was Russia’s 90th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2016 (down from 73rd in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0345% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0687% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Cyprus

The major share of Russian exports to Cyprus in the 4th quarter of 2016 (and in the 4th quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 43.70% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (4.06% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 35.91% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (68.31% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 11.78% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (15.85% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 6.37% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (3.15% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 0.79% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (6.98% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - an increase of $50,550,239;
  • Nickel and articles thereof (HS code 75) - an increase of $3,692,595;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $2,364,185;
  • Residues and waste from the food industries; prepared animal feed (HS code 23) - an increase of $1,556,460;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $1,255,678;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $462,607.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $3,479,213;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $1,224,289;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $580,066;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $356,565.

Russia’s Imports from Cyprus

The major share of Russian imports from Cyprus in the 4th quarter of 2016 (and in the 4th quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 83.79% of Russia’s total imports from Cyprus (92.61% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 13.21% of Russia’s total imports from Cyprus (5.54% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 1.68% of Russia’s total imports from Cyprus (0.97% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Cyprus in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - a decrease of $15,686,588;
  • Toys, games and sports requisites; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 95) - a decrease of $93,647;
  • Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons (HS code 08) - a decrease of $81,277;
