Russia’s Trade with Hungary
In the 4th quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Hungary was $1,174,054,056, down 6.53% ($81,984,486) from the 4th quarter of 2015.
Russia’s exports to Hungary in the 4th quarter of 2016 were $687,596,844, down 14.28% ($114,564,823) from the 4th quarter of 2015.
Russia’s imports from Hungary in the 4th quarter of 2016 totaled $486,457,212, up 7.18% ($32,580,337) from the 4th quarter of 2015.
Russia’s trade surplus with Hungary in the 4th quarter of 2016 was $201,139,632, a 42.25% decrease ($147,145,160) over the 4th quarter of 2015.
Hungary was Russia’s 27th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2016 (down from 24th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.8616% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.9605% in the 4th quarter of 2015).
Hungary was Russia’s 26th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2016 (down from 23rd in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.8202% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.9731% in the 4th quarter of 2015).
Hungary was Russia’s 26th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2016 (up from 27th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.9278% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.9390% in the 4th quarter of 2015).
Russia’s Exports to Hungary
The major share of Russian exports to Hungary in the 4th quarter of 2016 (and in the 4th quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:
- Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 87.88% of Russia’s total exports to Hungary (86.80% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 8.54% of Russia’s total exports to Hungary (8.08% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
- Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.25% of Russia’s total exports to Hungary (3.30% in the 4th quarter of 2015).
The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Hungary in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Ores, slag and ash (HS code 26) - an increase of $5,502,307;
- Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $2,469,100.
The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Hungary in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $97,573,076;
- Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $21,084,913;

- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 29.34% of Russia’s total imports from Hungary (29.76% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
- Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 14.50% of Russia’s total imports from Hungary (11.91% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
