Russia’s Trade with India

In the 4th quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with India totaled $2,260,420,264, up 7.37% ($155,206,403) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to India in the 4th quarter of 2016 totaled $1,616,491,531, up 5.23% ($80,326,057) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from India in the 4th quarter of 2016 totaled $643,928,733, up 13.16% ($74,880,346) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade surplus with India in the 4th quarter of 2016 was $972,562,798, a 0.56% increase ($5,445,711) over the 4th quarter of 2015.

India was Russia’s 16th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2016 (just as in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 1.6588% of Russia’s total trade (up from 1.6099% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

India was Russia’s 15th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2016 (down from 14th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 1.9281% of Russia’s total exports (up from 1.8636% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

India was Russia’s 22nd largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2016 (down from 20th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 1.2281% of Russia’s total imports (up from 1.1773% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to India

The major share of Russian exports to India in the 4th quarter of 2016 (and in the 4th quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 30.30% of Russia’s total exports to India (27.75% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 13.24% of Russia’s total exports to India (16.22% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 12.66% of Russia’s total exports to India (11.06% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 7.72% of Russia’s total exports to India (4.29% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 5.27% of Russia’s total exports to India (7.75% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
