Russia’s Trade with Pakistan

In the 4th quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Pakistan totaled $82,625,470, up 23.12% ($15,518,460) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Pakistan in the 4th quarter of 2016 totaled $38,633,596, up 58.10% ($14,196,764) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Pakistan in the 4th quarter of 2016 totaled $43,991,874, up 3.10% ($1,321,696) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade deficit with Pakistan in the 4th quarter of 2016 was $5,358,278, a 70.61% decrease ($12,875,068) over the 4th quarter of 2015.

Pakistan was Russia’s 90th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2016 (just as in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0606% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0513% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Pakistan was Russia’s 87th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2016 (up from 100th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0461% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0296% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Pakistan was Russia’s 72nd largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2016 (down from 68th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0839% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0883% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Pakistan

The major share of Russian exports to Pakistan in the 4th quarter of 2016 (and in the 4th quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 45.19% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (32.62% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 21.62% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (32.82% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 11.61% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (17.29% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 10.51% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (11.90% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 8.95% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (1.11% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.71% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (3.39% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Pakistan in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - a decrease of $492,859;
  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - a decrease of $432,444;
