Russia’s Trade with Syria
In 2016, Russia’s trade with Syria was $193,274,966, down 38.15% ($119,235,163) from 2015.
Russia’s exports to Syria in 2016 were $182,254,339, down 40.69% ($125,020,316) from 2015.
Russia’s imports from Syria in 2016 totaled $11,020,627, up 110.50% ($5,785,153) from 2015.
Russia’s trade surplus with Syria in 2016 was $171,233,712, a 43.31% decrease ($130,805,469) over 2015.
Syria was Russia’s 99th largest trading partner in 2016 (down from 85th in 2015), accounting for 0.0413% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0594% in 2015).
Syria was Russia’s 87th largest export market in 2016 (down from 71st in 2015), accounting for 0.0638% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0894% in 2015).

The major share of Russian exports to Syria in 2016 (and in 2015) was accounted for the following product types:
- Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 25.76% of Russia’s total exports to Syria (13.73% in 2015);
- Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 7.08% of Russia’s total exports to Syria (17.50% in 2015);
- Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 6.68% of Russia’s total exports to Syria (10.85% in 2015);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 4.13% of Russia’s total exports to Syria (9.32% in 2015).

- Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $960,246;
- Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $681,757.
