Russia’s Trade with Colombia
In the 1st quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Colombia totaled $130,111,347, up 94.66% ($63,271,457) from the 1st quarter of 2016.
Russia’s exports to Colombia in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $104,558,094, up 158.06% ($64,040,544) from the 1st quarter of 2016.
Russia’s imports from Colombia in the 1st quarter of 2017 were $25,553,253, down 2.92% ($769,087) from the 1st quarter of 2016.
Russia’s trade surplus with Colombia in the 1st quarter of 2017 was $79,004,841, a 456.56% increase ($64,809,631) over the 1st quarter of 2016.
Colombia was Russia’s 74th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2017 (up from 85th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.1012% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0689% in the 1st quarter of 2016).
Colombia was Russia’s 64th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2017 (up from 82nd in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.1255% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0661% in the 1st quarter of 2016).
Colombia was Russia’s 82nd largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2017 (down from 74th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0565% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0735% in the 1st quarter of 2016).
Russia’s Exports to Colombia
The major share of Russian exports to Colombia in the 1st quarter of 2017 (and in the 1st quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:
- Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 77.95% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (3.22% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 13.49% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (71.37% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
- Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 6.26% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (17.35% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
- Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.66% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (6.19% in the 1st quarter of 2016).
The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Colombia in the 1st quarter of 2017 over the 1st quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $80,195,674;
- Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $1,008,870;
- Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $929,483.
The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Colombia in the 1st quarter of 2017 over the 1st quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $15,664,009;
- Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $1,088,225;

- Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 12.58% of Russia’s total imports from Colombia (5.70% in the 1st quarter of 2016).
The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Colombia in the 1st quarter of 2017 over the 1st quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - an increase of $2,323,899;
