Russia’s Trade with France

In the 1st quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with France totaled $3,301,842,770, up 21.06% ($574,483,640) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to France in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $1,671,063,217, up 45.57% ($523,137,716) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from France in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $1,630,779,553, up 3.25% ($51,345,924) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade balance with France went from a deficit of $431,508,128 in the 1st quarter of 2016, to a surplus of $40,283,664 in the 1st quarter of 2017.

France was Russia’s 12th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2017 (down from 10th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 2.5685% of Russia’s total trade (down from 2.8094% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

France was Russia’s 15th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2017 (up from 17th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 2.0052% of Russia’s total exports (up from 1.8732% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

France was Russia’s 7th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2017 (down from 5th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 3.6066% of Russia’s total imports (down from 4.4122% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to France

The major share of Russian exports to France in the 1st quarter of 2017 (and in the 1st quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 88.26% of Russia’s total exports to France (78.48% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 3.58% of Russia’s total exports to France (2.28% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.44% of Russia’s total exports to France (3.66% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.41% of Russia’s total exports to France (11.14% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
