Russia’s Trade with Hungary

In the 1st quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Hungary totaled $1,228,912,672, up 44.06% ($375,836,845) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Hungary in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $730,948,828, up 47.27% ($234,599,526) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Hungary in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $497,963,844, up 39.59% ($141,237,319) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Hungary in the 1st quarter of 2017 was $232,984,984, a 66.87% increase ($93,362,207) over the 1st quarter of 2016.

Hungary was Russia’s 24th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2017 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.9560% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.8787% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Hungary was Russia’s 28th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2017 (down from 26th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.8771% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.8099% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Hungary was Russia’s 23rd largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2017 (up from 25th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 1.1013% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.9965% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Hungary

The major share of Russian exports to Hungary in the 1st quarter of 2017 (and in the 1st quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 79.18% of Russia’s total exports to Hungary (83.53% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 10.63% of Russia’s total exports to Hungary (12.41% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 7.99% of Russia’s total exports to Hungary (1.07% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 0.91% of Russia’s total exports to Hungary (1.76% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Hungary in the 1st quarter of 2017 over the 1st quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:
