Russia’s Trade with India

In the 1st quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with India totaled $1,954,553,345, up 29.08% ($440,330,257) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to India in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $1,284,846,116, up 35.52% ($336,731,314) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from India in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $669,707,229, up 18.30% ($103,598,943) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with India in the 1st quarter of 2017 was $615,138,887, a 61.03% increase ($233,132,371) over the 1st quarter of 2016.

India was Russia’s 17th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2017 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 1.5204% of Russia’s total trade (down from 1.5598% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

India was Russia’s 18th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2017 (up from 19th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 1.5417% of Russia’s total exports (down from 1.5471% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

India was Russia’s 15th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2017 (down from 14th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 1.4811% of Russia’s total imports (down from 1.5814% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to India

The major share of Russian exports to India in the 1st quarter of 2017 (and in the 1st quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 20.01% of Russia’s total exports to India (28.47% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 14.35% of Russia’s total exports to India (18.91% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 12.16% of Russia’s total exports to India (17.76% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 11.85% of Russia’s total exports to India (6.89% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
