Russia’s Trade with Malaysia

In the 1st quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Malaysia was $390,593,439, down 11.72% ($51,877,719) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Malaysia in the 1st quarter of 2017 were $89,202,926, down 48.17% ($82,897,062) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Malaysia in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $301,390,513, up 11.47% ($31,019,343) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Malaysia in the 1st quarter of 2017 was $212,187,587, a 115.92% increase ($113,916,405) over the 1st quarter of 2016.

Malaysia was Russia’s 49th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2017 (down from 41st in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.3038% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.4558% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Malaysia was Russia’s 69th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2017 (down from 52nd in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.1070% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.2808% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Malaysia was Russia’s 31st largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2017 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.6666% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.7553% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Malaysia

The major share of Russian exports to Malaysia in the 1st quarter of 2017 (and in the 1st quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 64.08% of Russia’s total exports to Malaysia (58.96% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 21.39% of Russia’s total exports to Malaysia (31.50% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 4.19% of Russia’s total exports to Malaysia (2.95% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 3.85% of Russia’s total exports to Malaysia (2.85% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 3.31% of Russia’s total exports to Malaysia (1.97% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
