Russia’s Trade with Switzerland

In the 1st quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Switzerland totaled $1,398,363,339, up 41.56% ($410,536,613) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Switzerland in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $968,742,147, up 54.55% ($341,911,123) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Switzerland in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $429,621,192, up 19.01% ($68,625,490) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Switzerland in the 1st quarter of 2017 was $539,120,955, a 102.80% increase ($273,285,633) over the 1st quarter of 2016.

Switzerland was Russia’s 20th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2017 (up from 21st in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 1.0878% of Russia’s total trade (up from 1.0175% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Switzerland was Russia’s 20th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2017 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 1.1624% of Russia’s total exports (up from 1.0229% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Switzerland was Russia’s 25th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2017 (down from 23rd in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.9502% of Russia’s total imports (down from 1.0085% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Switzerland

The major share of Russian exports to Switzerland in the 1st quarter of 2017 (and in the 1st quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 46.52% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (47.38% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 25.80% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (17.40% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 25.09% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (26.22% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
