Russia’s Trade with Algeria
In the 2nd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Algeria totaled $839,080,988, up 225.32% ($581,155,846) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.
Russia’s exports to Algeria in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $836,343,143, up 227.38% ($580,877,778) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.
Russia’s imports from Algeria in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $2,737,845, up 11.30% ($278,068) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.
Russia’s trade surplus with Algeria in the 2nd quarter of 2017 was $833,605,298, a 229.48% increase ($580,599,710) over the 2nd quarter of 2016.
Algeria was Russia’s 34th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (up from 56th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.6004% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.2370% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).
Algeria was Russia’s 24th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (up from 41st in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.9960% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.3845% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).
Algeria was Russia’s 113th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0049% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0058% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).
Russia’s Exports to Algeria
The major share of Russian exports to Algeria in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:
- Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 30.04% of Russia’s total exports to Algeria (66.64% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
- Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 13.56% of Russia’s total exports to Algeria (8.56% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
- Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 6.00% of Russia’s total exports to Algeria (13.93% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
- Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 4.39% of Russia’s total exports to Algeria (5.91% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);

- Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $16,373,181.
The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Algeria in the 2nd quarter of 2017 over the 2nd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $29,180,772;
- Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $14,603,535;
