Russia’s Trade with Cyprus
In the 2nd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Cyprus totaled $108,032,104, up 55.82% ($38,700,515) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.
Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $106,971,006, up 66.84% ($42,855,222) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.
Russia’s imports from Cyprus in the 2nd quarter of 2017 were $1,061,098, down 79.66% ($4,154,707) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.
Russia’s trade surplus with Cyprus in the 2nd quarter of 2017 was $105,909,908, a 79.81% increase ($47,009,929) over the 2nd quarter of 2016.
Cyprus was Russia’s 81st largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (up from 84th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0773% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0637% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).
Cyprus was Russia’s 69th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (up from 72nd in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.1274% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0965% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).
Cyprus was Russia’s 127th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 99th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0019% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0123% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).
Russia’s Exports to Cyprus
The major share of Russian exports to Cyprus in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:
- Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 74.01% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (67.07% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
- Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 4.32% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (7.55% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
- Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 3.84% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (5.91% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
- Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.93% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (1.42% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.29% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (15.56% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
- Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 0.41% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (2.33% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).
The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 2nd quarter of 2017 over the 2nd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $36,132,089;
- Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $1,402,476;
- Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $1,110,946;
- Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $472,979;
- Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $382,349.
The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 2nd quarter of 2017 over the 2nd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Soap, organic surface-active agents, washing preparations, lubricating preparations, artificial waxes, prepared waxes, polishing or scouring preparations, candles and similar articles, modeling pastes, "dental waxes" and dental preparations with a basis of plaster (HS code 34) - a decrease of $8,575,725;
- Residues and waste from the food industries; prepared animal feed (HS code 23) - a decrease of $1,637,841;
- Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $905,374;
- Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $701,112;
- Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $356,301.
