Russia’s Trade with Ecuador

In the 2nd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Ecuador totaled $395,942,328, up 4.00% ($15,246,503) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Ecuador in the 2nd quarter of 2017 were $46,856,831, down 20.69% ($12,223,468) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Ecuador in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $349,085,497, up 8.54% ($27,469,971) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Ecuador in the 2nd quarter of 2017 was $302,228,666, a 15.12% increase ($39,693,439) over the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Ecuador was Russia’s 50th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 47th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.2833% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.3498% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Ecuador was Russia’s 87th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 73rd in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0558% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0889% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Ecuador was Russia’s 31st largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 29th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.6258% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.7587% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Ecuador

The major share of Russian exports to Ecuador in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 42.71% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (29.32% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 27.61% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (16.47% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $3,166,103;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $1,150,963;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $1,094,236;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $649,928;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - an increase of $443,713;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $304,696.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Ecuador in the 2nd quarter of 2017 over the 2nd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $8,596,579;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $2,437,726;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $1,382,939;

Russia’s Imports from Ecuador

The major share of Russian imports from Ecuador in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 99.95% of Russia’s total imports from Ecuador (99.99% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Ecuador in the 2nd quarter of 2017 over the 2nd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons (HS code 08) - an increase of $35,067,754;
