Russia’s Trade with Hungary

In the 2nd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Hungary totaled $1,337,040,351, up 15.19% ($176,313,811) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Hungary in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $832,683,149, up 8.45% ($64,863,432) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Hungary in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $504,357,202, up 28.37% ($111,450,379) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Hungary in the 2nd quarter of 2017 was $328,325,947, a 12.43% decrease ($46,586,947) over the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Hungary was Russia’s 22nd largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 21st in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.9567% of Russia’s total trade (down from 1.0665% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Hungary was Russia’s 25th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 20th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.9916% of Russia’s total exports (down from 1.1555% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Hungary was Russia’s 24th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (up from 26th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.9041% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.9269% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Hungary

The major share of Russian exports to Hungary in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 83.46% of Russia’s total exports to Hungary (85.24% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 12.56% of Russia’s total exports to Hungary (8.24% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.89% of Russia’s total exports to Hungary (4.90% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Hungary in the 2nd quarter of 2017 over the 2nd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Ores, slag and ash (HS code 26) - an increase of $20,340,323;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $20,179,190;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $18,102,474;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $14,019,635;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $7,331,377.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Hungary in the 2nd quarter of 2017 over the 2nd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:
