Russia’s Trade with Jordan

In the 2nd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Jordan was $33,163,227, down 10.47% ($3,877,725) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Jordan in the 2nd quarter of 2017 were $25,386,553, down 20.97% ($6,736,761) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Jordan in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $7,776,674, up 58.14% ($2,859,036) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Jordan in the 2nd quarter of 2017 was $17,609,879, a 35.27% decrease ($9,595,797) over the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Jordan was Russia’s 109th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 97th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0237% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0340% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Jordan was Russia’s 97th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 86th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0302% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0483% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Jordan was Russia’s 95th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (up from 100th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0139% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0116% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Jordan

The major share of Russian exports to Jordan in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 75.08% of Russia’s total exports to Jordan (66.76% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 9.63% of Russia’s total exports to Jordan (2.12% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 8.17% of Russia’s total exports to Jordan (7.86% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 4.17% of Russia’s total exports to Jordan (17.29% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.89% of Russia’s total exports to Jordan (5.07% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Jordan in the 2nd quarter of 2017 over the 2nd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $1,027,230;
  • Cocoa and cocoa preparations (HS code 18) - an increase of $806,546;
  • Tanning or dyeing extracts; dyes, pigments, paints, varnishes, putty and mastics (HS code 32) - an increase of $621,781;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - an increase of $360,945;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $207,932.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Jordan in the 2nd quarter of 2017 over the 2nd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $4,455,437;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $2,426,582;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $896,346;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $796,509;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - a decrease of $589,747;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $416,377;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $104,290;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $83,226.
