Russia’s Trade with Morocco
In the 2nd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Morocco totaled $271,891,042, up 13.84% ($33,050,668) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.
Russia’s exports to Morocco in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $181,180,750, up 22.76% ($33,597,156) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.
Russia’s imports from Morocco in the 2nd quarter of 2017 were $90,710,292, down 0.60% ($546,488) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.
Russia’s trade surplus with Morocco in the 2nd quarter of 2017 was $90,470,458, a 60.62% increase ($34,143,644) over the 2nd quarter of 2016.
Morocco was Russia’s 61st largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 59th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.1945% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.2194% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).
Morocco was Russia’s 53rd largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (up from 57th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.2158% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.2221% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).
Morocco was Russia’s 61st largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 55th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.1626% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.2153% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).
Russia’s Exports to Morocco
The major share of Russian exports to Morocco in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:
- Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 74.18% of Russia’s total exports to Morocco (52.79% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 10.02% of Russia’s total exports to Morocco (3.23% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
- Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 9.07% of Russia’s total exports to Morocco (7.05% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
- Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 6.29% of Russia’s total exports to Morocco (36.21% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).
The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Morocco in the 2nd quarter of 2017 over the 2nd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $60,999,451;
- Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $15,350,821;
- Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $5,607,575;
- Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $574,309.
The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Morocco in the 2nd quarter of 2017 over the 2nd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

The major share of Russian imports from Morocco in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:
- Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 59.85% of Russia’s total imports from Morocco (65.28% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
- Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 26.58% of Russia’s total imports from Morocco (29.75% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
- Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.50% of Russia’s total imports from Morocco (2.24% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
