Russia’s Trade with Pakistan

In the 2nd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Pakistan totaled $127,297,398, up 58.26% ($46,861,242) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Pakistan in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $72,304,118, up 133.71% ($41,367,180) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Pakistan in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $54,993,280, up 11.10% ($5,494,062) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade balance with Pakistan went from a deficit of $18,562,280 in the 2nd quarter of 2016, to a surplus of $17,310,838 in the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Pakistan was Russia’s 73rd largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (up from 82nd in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0911% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0739% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Pakistan was Russia’s 78th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (up from 87th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0861% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0466% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Pakistan was Russia’s 67th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 65th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0986% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.1168% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Pakistan

The major share of Russian exports to Pakistan in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 23.76% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (37.42% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 17.89% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (4.18% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 15.66% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (11.39% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 11.53% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (21.98% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 8.77% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (5.70% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 2.14% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (19.10% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $4,952,275;

  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - an increase of $4,500,310;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $2,614,099;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $1,646,720;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $1,460,776;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $1,131,901;

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Pakistan in the 2nd quarter of 2017 over the 2nd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - a decrease of $3,977,841;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $600,921;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $537,361;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $450,662;
  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - a decrease of $377,055;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $340,177;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $326,870.

Russia’s Imports from Pakistan

The major share of Russian imports from Pakistan in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:
