Russia’s Trade with Peru

In the 2nd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Peru totaled $98,813,175, up 40.80% ($28,634,139) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Peru in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $63,439,565, up 29.61% ($14,491,641) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Peru in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $35,373,610, up 66.61% ($14,142,498) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Peru in the 2nd quarter of 2017 was $28,065,955, a 1.26% increase ($349,143) over the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Peru was Russia’s 84th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 83rd in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0707% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0645% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Peru was Russia’s 82nd largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 79th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0755% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0737% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Peru was Russia’s 77th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (up from 81st in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0634% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0501% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Peru

The major share of Russian exports to Peru in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 44.21% of Russia’s total exports to Peru (41.89% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 38.57% of Russia’s total exports to Peru (38.78% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 13.31% of Russia’s total exports to Peru (7.52% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.38% of Russia’s total exports to Peru (2.42% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 0.92% of Russia’s total exports to Peru (5.35% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Peru in the 2nd quarter of 2017 over the 2nd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $7,018,663;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $5,996,647;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $4,637,635;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $322,250;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $273,279.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Peru in the 2nd quarter of 2017 over the 2nd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Furniture; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings; lamps and lighting fittings, not elsewhere specified or included; illuminated sign illuminated nameplates and the like; prefabricated buildings (HS code 94) - a decrease of $1,785,000;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $911,084;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $585,348;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $561,850;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $525,766.
