Russia’s Trade with the Philippines

In the 2nd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with the Philippines totaled $124,606,510, up 26.19% ($25,861,555) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to the Philippines in the 2nd quarter of 2017 were $30,285,145, down 14.62% ($5,184,649) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from the Philippines in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $94,321,365, up 49.07% ($31,046,204) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with the Philippines in the 2nd quarter of 2017 was $64,036,220, a 130.30% increase ($36,230,853) over the 2nd quarter of 2016.

The Philippines was Russia’s 74th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (up from 77th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0892% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0907% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

The Philippines was Russia’s 94th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 85th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0361% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0534% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

The Philippines was Russia’s 59th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (up from 60th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.1691% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.1493% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to the Philippines

The major share of Russian exports to the Philippines in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 62.86% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (77.43% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 20.54% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (12.50% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 10.63% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (0.18% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 3.33% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (1.86% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.13% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (2.82% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 0.43% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (5.14% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to the Philippines in the 2nd quarter of 2017 over the 2nd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $3,212,057;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $1,029,777;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $846,796;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $334,502.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to the Philippines in the 2nd quarter of 2017 over the 2nd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $8,158,566;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $944,248;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $767,503;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $287,486;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $267,727;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $117,800.

Russia’s Imports from the Philippines

The major share of Russian imports from the Philippines in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 8.99% of Russia’s total imports from the Philippines (6.95% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 3.85% of Russia’s total imports from the Philippines (4.52% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
