Russia’s Trade with Zimbabwe

In the 2nd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Zimbabwe was $14,464,182, down 20.74% ($3,785,037) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Zimbabwe in the 2nd quarter of 2017 were $205,957, down 82.38% ($962,968) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Zimbabwe in the 2nd quarter of 2017 were $14,258,225, down 16.52% ($2,822,069) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Zimbabwe in the 2nd quarter of 2017 was $14,052,268, a 11.68% decrease ($1,859,101) over the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Zimbabwe was Russia’s 91st largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 84th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0256% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0403% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $2,782.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Zimbabwe in the 2nd quarter of 2017 over the 2nd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $1,136,165;
  • Articles of stone, plaster, cement, asbestos, mica or similar materials (HS code 68) - a decrease of $7,358.

Russia’s Imports from Zimbabwe

The major share of Russian imports from Zimbabwe in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 99.93% of Russia’s total imports from Zimbabwe (99.95% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Zimbabwe in the 2nd quarter of 2017 over the 2nd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - an increase of $172,567;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - an increase of $126,320.
