Russia’s Trade with Bangladesh
In the 1st quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Bangladesh was $323,522,347, down 11.73% ($42,985,877) from the 1st quarter of 2017.
Russia’s exports to Bangladesh in the 1st quarter of 2018 were $77,790,476, down 43.24% ($59,268,897) from the 1st quarter of 2017.
Russia’s imports from Bangladesh in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $245,731,871, up 7.10% ($16,283,020) from the 1st quarter of 2017.
Russia’s trade deficit with Bangladesh in the 1st quarter of 2018 was $167,941,395, a 81.78% increase ($75,551,917) over the 1st quarter of 2017.
Bangladesh was Russia’s 60th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 52nd in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.2052% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.2851% in the 1st quarter of 2017).
Bangladesh was Russia’s 74th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 59th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0755% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1645% in the 1st quarter of 2017).
Bangladesh was Russia’s 35th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 36th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.4500% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.5075% in the 1st quarter of 2017).
Russia’s Exports to Bangladesh
The major share of Russian exports to Bangladesh in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:
- Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 42.09% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (39.92% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
- Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 23.67% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (7.38% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
- Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 22.26% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (23.32% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
- Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 6.30% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (21.50% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
- Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 4.06% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (1.97% in the 1st quarter of 2017);

- Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $8,380,446;
- Oil seeds and oleaginous fruits; miscellaneous grains, seeds and fruits; industrial or medicinal plants; straw and fodder (HS code 12) - an increase of $2,866,616;
- Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $1,617,039;
- Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $368,123;
- Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $261,650.
The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Bangladesh in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

- Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $25,023,368;
- Printed books, newspapers, pictures and other products of the printing industry; manuscripts, typescripts and plans (HS code 49) - a decrease of $24,367,530;
- Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $5,488,432;
- Raw hides and skins (other than furskins) and leather (HS code 41) - a decrease of $1,411,190;
- Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $236,304.
