Russia’s Trade with Egypt

In the 1st quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Egypt totaled $1,664,302,609, up 75.58% ($716,415,611) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Egypt in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $1,472,132,391, up 81.70% ($661,954,388) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Egypt in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $192,170,218, up 39.55% ($54,461,223) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Egypt in the 1st quarter of 2018 was $1,279,962,173, a 90.34% increase ($607,493,165) over the 1st quarter of 2017.

Egypt was Russia’s 19th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 32nd in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 1.0558% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.7374% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Egypt was Russia’s 18th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 26th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 1.4289% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.9722% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Egypt was Russia’s 43rd largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 44th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.3519% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.3046% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Egypt

The major share of Russian exports to Egypt in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 38.48% of Russia’s total exports to Egypt (57.07% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 20.38% of Russia’s total exports to Egypt (16.08% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 13.80% of Russia’s total exports to Egypt (17.60% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 7.35% of Russia’s total exports to Egypt (0.53% in the 1st quarter of 2017);

Russia’s Imports from Egypt

The major share of Russian imports from Egypt in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 5.90% of Russia’s total imports from Egypt (8.64% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 4.03% of Russia’s total imports from Egypt (1.05% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
